She shrugged, “If you want to.”
"All right. Let’s go," Alice says, turning towards the door and walking out. Tarrant, still holding Artemis, follows him.
"do you not want to spend time with us Alice?"
He brushes his bangs back from his eyes. “I didn’t say that… You know what? I’ll pay for the games, if that’s okay with you?” That way, at least, he would be making himself useful.
[A drunk, flailing teenager wasn’t the usual sight in Underland. In New York, however, the worst that could be done was being hauled down to the police station. Being as she was, out of her time-period and too young in this one, no good could come of it.]
[The officers had clearly had enough of her nonsense. One of them, a young looking man with dark hair and eyes, kept asking her who her parents were, and why they let her go out on her own.]
Well, you see… [She’d started saying.] My mom’s a nice woman. Single mother. She doesn’t like people. Says I’m better off on my own, making my own choices and not giving a fuck what others think. [She shrugs, not bothering to meet the officer’s gaze.] Besides, I believe I get a phone call! [She calls as the man walks away. Then, shrugging, she pulls out her cell phone and makes a call.] Hey, this is kind of awkward, but… I need you to help me out. I’m sort of stuck in this police station. They won’t let me go. Something about needing my parents. Anyway… help if you can? [She hangs up before leaning back in her chair and waiting.]
"Yeah about two blocks away."
"I say we should go, then." Tarrant says, trying to keep Artemis from getting at her hair.
"Fine," Alice grumbles.
"You gonna pay the ticket if I get pulled over?"
"Uh… fine." Alice sighs. "Is there an arcade in walking distance?"
"Sure but one of you will have to squeeze between the carseats in the back."
"One of us could sit with a baby in our lap." Alice says, staring pointedly at his sister.
"Yeah… your point?" Tarrant says.
"Kids like lights and flashing. Plus there are some games for babies too. We can leave any time."
"We takin’ a car?" He asks.
"Well I was thinking maybe we could go to the arcade with the babies."
"What would they do at a-" Alice stops talking when Tarrant hits him. "Fine. When did you want to go?"
"You did not, you just left Subway without even saying bye."
He groans. “Fine. What did you have in mind?”
"Dunno yet, you just took off before we could decide."
"I told you! I’m tired.”
Scarlet carefully opened little Apollo’s hands, “You like playing with your brother, right baby?” Plucking him up off the bed she tucked him into her chest and tickled him. She laughed along with his joyous giggles.
Alice sits up with a groan. “What were you guys planning on doing, any ways?”
